Part 1 - Requirements to install free open source fax HYLAFax with Linux CentOS 5.3

Image CD/DVD used in this howto

Download this isoDVD image and burn it to a DVD:

CentOS-5.3-i386-bin-DVD.iso

It is also possible to use the CDs, and for this procedure, only disk image 1, 3 and 4 are needed, we do not need image disks 2, 5 and 6:

Hardware

For this install, we need a Pentium type computer. It needs a serial port.
Also a serial external fax/modem, idealy a USRobotics Fax/Modem 56k type.
